Hattie’s is a must-visit in the Bishop Arts District. The tiny white restaurant redefined American comfort food with each elegant dish, adding a Southern twist to all of their menu items. I’ve had the pleasure of trying the Bacon-Wrapped, Jalapeno-Stuffed Quail, the Tomato Bisque soup and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken, each of which was as unforgettable as the last. I’ve made honest effort to try something new each time I’ve been and it’s always worth doing so. In addition to their excellent variety of food, their cocktails are undeniably excellent. My personal favorite is the Sweet Tea Martini, another creative take on classic sweet tea. In place of dessert, I ordered the White Chocolate Martini (a decision made majorly due to my sweet tooth) and it was on par with, if not better than, any solid dessert they serve. Furthermore, Hattie’s embodies a simplicity and quaintness created through its decor and layout. The clean white that carries from the tiled floors to the tablecloths to the ceiling gives the restaurant a uniform, classy look, which is again reflected in each dish they serve. I absolutely recommend making the trip to Oak Cliff just to eat at Hattie’s.
